Makeda Loney, copywriter at The Martin Agency in Richmond, is included in Insider’s list of 50 rising stars of Madison Avenue who are revolutionizing advertising in 2021.

According to Insider, “In just over five years, this wordsmith has worked on a diverse client roster that spans multiple ad agencies and brands such as McDonald’s, Toyota, Walmart, Nike, Delta, and Old Navy.

“Her advocacy for body positivity in advertising is particularly visible in her recent work for Old Navy called “Bodequality,” where the retailer committed to moving away from disparaging “plus-size” language and price all its styles equitably. She’s also a plus-size influencer outside of her day job, and has worked with Beyond Yoga and Universal Standard.

“Previously, Loney tackled the subject of incontinence in a campaign for Depend that sought to destigmatize adult diapers by modeling adult incontinence ads after fashion ads.”
