Maryland awards $2.8M contract to TEACH.org for recruitment campaign

The Maryland Board of Public Works has approved a $2.8 million contract for a statewide teacher recruitment campaign, selecting TEACH.org to lead a multi-year effort aimed at addressing ongoing educator shortages across the state.

The sole-source contract, awarded on behalf of the Maryland State Department of Education’s Division of Educator Effectiveness, runs through June 30, 2029. The total value is $2,819,765.

Under the agreement, San Francisco–based TEACH.org will carry out a marketing and advertising campaign promoting the teaching profession. The initiative includes statewide messaging, digital outreach, targeted advertising and recruitment tools designed to attract new educators into Maryland classrooms.

According to cost-justification documents submitted to the Board of Public Works, TEACH’s four-year proposal is “materially lower than the estimated cost of assembling these services through multiple separate contracts,” which the agency estimated would total between $8.6 million and $15.8 million over the same period.

TEACH.org partners with states and school districts across the country to generate interest in teaching careers and guide prospective educators through certification and hiring processes.
