MDB Communications Celebrates 35th Anniversary – A Milestone Only Reached by Three Other Current Area Agencies

by | Nov 30, 2016

D.C.-based MDB Communications hosted a 35th anniversary celebration at the Newseum in Washington, D.C., on Nov 28.  MDB’s longevity places it alongside only three other current agencies in the region to have reached this milestone. The evening celebration was attended by many people who played a role in the agency’s success – including staff, clients and friends.

Cary Hatch, MDB’s CEO, has been a prominent personality within the area’s ad community for years and has repeatedly demonstrated a commitment to the community at large.

More than a decade ago, she helped launch Ad Week DC (now called ADWKDC) and also helped create an evening event honoring some of the local advertising greats from the past.

Hatch has been honored with Ad Club’s Silver Medal, been included in Washington Business Journal’s Power 100 list multiple times, been keynote speaker at the Department of Communications Spring Commencement at the University of Maryland, spoke to the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, and has moderated countless sessions on communications at events produced by Capitol Communicator – and has been profiled in Capitol Communicator’s profile series.

Hatch recently was quoted by Rance Crain, editor-in-chief of Advertising Age, and also has been quoted in Time.

When asked in her Capitol Communicator profile, what advice she would share with other communicators, she said:

  • Remain curious about life and your profession. Consumption of information on innovation and consumer trends is critical to leading client brands. Everything counts. For why would a client look to us, if we cannot be a renaissance resource to leading the way? One wise woman put it this way “when you’re through changing – you’re through.”
  • Know that life can be unkind, competition is considerable– but for those that are passionate, tenacious and persistent — they are the notable leaders of our time.”

Hatch closed her remarks at her agency’s celebration at the Museum by stating that she was looking forward to the next 35 years.
