On Thursday and Friday, MAC Summit will Detail the Skills Communicators Need to be Successful in Age of Uncertainty

Hundreds of communicators are expected at the MAC Summit, October 22-23, an online event for professionals in marketing, advertising and public relations that will focus on what’s working today and what will work in the future.

The two-day event, offering more than 50 panels, presentations, networking sessions and keynotes,  is expected to feature more than 100 speakers, including a fireside chat with Kathy Baird, Senior Director of Global Communications at Nike, where she is responsible for creating activations through storytelling and immersive experiences that bring the brand to life on and offline. Baird previously was the Managing Director and head of the Ogilvy office in Washington, D.C., where she oversaw a cross-functional integrated business and team. Clients included The Washington Post, Smithsonian Institute, Mozilla Firefox and Five Guys among others. Before Ogilvy, she worked at FleishmanHillard where she led the integrated marketing team and some of the agency’s largest global accounts including Visa, Inc. and others.

“It has become apparent that many of the tools and techniques that have been used in the past will have to be updated or abandoned as we move into the new normal,” states the event’s organizers.

Across three online tracks – marketing, advertising and communications – MAC Summit speakers will focus on the latest thinking in strategy, digital advertising, social media, communications, crisis, search, email, video, design, B2B, media relations, analytics, internal communications, automation, disruptive technologies and much more. Attendees can focus on one track or select sessions across the three tracks.

Plus, there’s time to network and share ideas and insights with others.

Included in the event’s two-dozen sessions are:

The CMO Roundtable which brings together four top CMOs to discuss their outlook for marketing in 2021 — and beyond. This “big picture” panel sets the table for the MAC Summit marketing track by focusing on topics that will be analyzed throughout the day in breakout sessions.

The Future of PR, a panel discussion featuring, among others, Frank Washkuch, Executive Editor, PR Week; and Kim Sample, President of the PR Council.

The Marketing Skills Needed in an Age of Disruption, a discussion on how marketers can position themselves by learning and acquiring new skills.

Other sessions planned for the two-day event are: Future-Proofing Your Career; Crisis Communications in a Post-COVID, Post-Election World; The Latest Thinking and Trends in SEO; An Evolving Media Landscape; and, Content Marketing.

The MAC Summit is the most comprehensive marketing communications event the Mid-Atlantic region has ever experienced, states the event’s organizers, as it includes the best of the Mid-Atlantic Marketing Summit, PR Summit DC, Communicator Summit, NPC’s Communicator’s Summit and ADWKDC. Attendees from throughout the region and beyond will join together for live streaming on October 22-23 and on-demand for multiple days after to learn, network and better prepare for the challenges ahead.
