Nominations for the 2021 National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame awards, the lifetime achievement recognition program of the Public Relations Society of America’s National Capital Chapter (PRSA NCC), are now open. PRSA NCC will honor this year’s inductees at their 53rd National Capital Excellence in Communication Awards event taking place virtually on Thursday, November 4. The deadline for nominations is by 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, July 30. The Nomination form is available at the PRSA NCC website.
As a part of its 50th anniversary celebration in 1999, PRSA NCC founded the National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame by inducting 50 leaders with significant accomplishments in the communications field. Members include communicators from agency heads, White House and Capitol Hill press secretaries, Pentagon spokespeople, business leaders, government officials, international experts, social activists, labor leaders and educators. Most recently, Gemma Puglisi and Lisa Osborne Ross were inducted in 2020.
“The National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame recognizes a communicator’s extraordinary accomplishments in the profession, as well as a deep commitment to service through civic and volunteer engagement that betters their communities and propels the next generation of communicators forward,” said Lauren Lawson-Zilai, PRSA NCC President. “Hall of Fame inductees are role models that demonstrate how community service and success are intertwined in PR and that you can do well by doing good.”
To be eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame, a nominee must have 30 or more years of notable accomplishments, including visionary leadership, contributions to the profession through industry member associations, board experience, awards acknowledgements, contributions to local organizations, and commitment to their local public relations community with an intent to inspire the next generation of public relations professionals.
