NY Times reports paid subscribers approaching 14 million

While many media companies are facing uncertain futures, The New York Times Company reports it added 420,000 digital-only subscribers in the third quarter, boosting its total number of paid subscribers to 13.8 million.
The results, states the Times, "keep the company roughly on pace to meet its stated goal of 15 million subscribers by the end of 2027 across the news report as well as Wirecutter, Cooking, Games and the Athletic sports news site. The company has added about 1.46 million digital-only subscribers in the past 12 months, though it had a slower second quarter with the addition of 280,000 subscribers.
"Total revenue for the third quarter was $768.5 million, an increase of 9.7 percent from the same time period last year. Adjusted operating profit was $149.6 million, up from $131.4 million in the third quarter of last year."
Meanwhile, a Feb 25, 2026, Wall Street Journal post headlined "Washington Post Losses Topped $100 Million in 2025".
