Pam Jenkins, most recently Weber Shandwick’s Chief Public Affairs Officer and Chief Public Health Officer, joins Shatterproof as CEO.

Jenkins, who had been with Weber Shandwick for 21 years, said: “With the seismic shifts in public health and politics over the past six months, I felt drawn to a role where I could harness my 35+ years of experience to tackle what many consider to be the biggest health crisis of our time — substance use disorder (SUD) — with the hope of saving lives. More than 250,000 lives will be lost this year due to overdose and alcohol-related deaths. Millions of others will struggle to live with SUD. And as millions may soon lose their access to healthcare, it’s likely many more will suffer.

“I’m joining a team that has made huge strides as a convener, catalyst and doer to reduce the burden of SUD largely through public policy advocacy and helping people and families navigate the treatment system. We’re also
·      Fighting stigma with Unshame state campaigns and HCP education;
·      Improving treatment quality through industry-accepted principles of care;
·      Elevating prevention through community and workplace channels; and
·      Engaging advocates across the country to help make people and communities stronger than addiction.

Shatterproof is a national nonprofit that works to alleviate the impact of substance use disorder in the United States. The organization aims to increase access to quality treatment, promote awareness of addiction prevention and recovery, advocate for impactful policy changes and combat addiction stigma. Shatterproof’s mission ensures that individuals struggling with substance use can lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
