Beth A. Hardy, APR, President of Hardy Communications and School Board Member of Goochland County Public Schools, is this year’s winner of the Thomas Jefferson Award for Excellence, which recognizes the achievement of a seasoned public relations practitioner who has made an ongoing commitment to the advancement of the profession. She will receive the award at the 71st Annual Public Relations Awards on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond.

According to a release, Hardy is a public relations and communications professional with more than 25 years experience. “She is a freelance contractor who focuses on strategic marketing and communications planning for businesses in both the public and private sectors. She has served clients in both the services and consumer industries including several law firms, Direct Menswear, First Capital Bank, Capital One, Loehmann’s Plaza, and McGladrey & Pullen.

“Her experience includes strategic communications planning and implementation, employee communications, special events planning, intranet development, web-based communications, customer/client research and writing. Her work has earned several Virginia Public Relations Awards from PRSA Richmond.

“She is a past President of PRSA Richmond; a former Board member of the Goochland Free Clinic, Tech Reach of Central VA, and Volunteer Emergency Families for Children; a graduate of the Goochland Leadership Enterprise program; and a former PTA President and member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee for Goochland schools. She was elected to the Goochland County School Board in November 2011 and served as Chair in 2012. She also serves on the GCPS Minority Advisory Committee and the GCPS Public Relations Committee, and was recently elected Vice-Chair of the Southside Region for the Virginia School Board Association.”
