Rao named editor at The Daily Record; news from Sage Growth Partners and Abel Communications

Sameer Rao has been named editor of The Daily Record. He replaces longtime editor Thomas Baden Jr., who retired in June. Rao, in main image, comes to The Daily Record most recently from his position as the editor for the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., market of Technical.ly, a news organization focused on state, county and regional tech and startup ecosystems. His background includes roles as a legal industry reporter for Law360, arts and entertainment reporter for the Baltimore Sun, culture reporter for Colorlines and neighborhood editor for Philadelphia City Paper.

Sage Growth Partners in Baltimore has been awarded ‘Healthcare Marketing Campaign of the Year’ in the 2025 Ragan’s PR Daily Awards. Sage was recognized for its work with Gilchrist, a Baltimore-based nonprofit provider of hospice, end-of-life and palliative care services.

Abel Communications added seven new clients: the CASH Campaign of Maryland, experiential wellness and employee engagement company Wunsupona, the Maryland Center for History and Culture, Jay’s Catering, Baltimore School for the Arts, Protalent sports agency and The League for People with Disabilities.
