Reporter Matthew Torres exits WUSA to “explore what else is on the horizon”

After 5 1/2 years at WUSA in D.C., reporter Matthew Torres “decided to close this adventurous and incredible chapter and explore what else is on the horizon.”
Torres states on Instagram that reporting in D.C. “was never part of “the plan,” but taking the risk to move to our nation’s capital and initially freelance at the station paid off in great dividends. The newsroom became a second home, challenging me to become a better storyteller, giving me opportunities to cover some of the biggest headlines and breaking news stories and introducing me to talented colleagues whom I’m now lucky to call friends.
“I’m immensely grateful for all the connections I’ve made along the way, including sources, competitors and the people who trusted me to tell their stories, even in the midst of tragedy or despite possible repercussions.
“I’m proud of the stories I produced and of the photographers with whom I worked long hours. They deserve every bit of the credit. Thank you for the support.
“Luckily, I’m staying in D.C. for now. In a city known for the unexpected, I’m excited for what comes next.”
