On Monday, December 5, AMADC returns with its Masters of Marketing Series which will feature a one-on-one conversation with Seth Goldman, Founder and CEO of Honest Tea. Seth will talk with Washington-area marketers about what it took to build his business and the Honest Tea brand.
In 1998, Seth quit his job with Calvert Investments to brew batches of tea in his kitchen. Inspired by an idea hatched during graduate school, Seth looked to create a less sweet, yet flavorful tea. Just a few weeks after setting out on his quest, Seth brought a thermos of tea along with a mocked-up label applied to a recycled glass bottle to retailers, receiving his first order of 15,000 bottles from Whole Foods. Honest Tea was purchased by the Coca-Cola Company in 2011.
During the session, attendees will have the opportunity to hear Seth’s story first-hand, and learn how he was able to build a team, drive sales and raise capital that resulted in Honest Tea becoming one of the most successful beverage brands in the highly competitive – and rapidly changing – beverage industry.
“Masters of Marketing is a series created to provide our marketing community with an opportunity to learn from national marketing leaders,” said Regan Lamb, President of AMADC. “We’re thrilled to have Seth join us, and for attendees to learn first-hand about his journey from start-up to serving as Honest Tea’s “TeaEO.”
Masters of Marketing will take place at Gensler, 2020 K Street, NW, in Washington and run from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Attendees will be able to network in advance of the event as part of a pre-event reception, with the program beginning at 7:00 p.m. The program fee is $40 for AMADC members, $65 for non-members and $20 for AMADC student members.
