Sharla McBride has joined Newsmax as a co-host of Wake Up America alongside Rob Finnerty, reports TVNewser.  McBride, most recently a news and sports anchor at WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C., will be based in NYC.

According to TVNewser, McBride is a 17-year broadcast news veteran, having also worked as a main evening news anchor and sports anchor at the WNEP-TV ABC affiliate in Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, Penn., and sports anchor for NBC Sports Philadelphia.

“It has been my dream to work for network news, and I feel my 17 years of anchoring experience have prepared me for this new role of co-hosting ‘Wake Up America.’ It’s an absolute honor!” said McBride.

McBride studied international affairs and foreign policy, with a concentration in broadcast journalism, at the University of Georgia.

What happened to the former female host on early news show?

Why can’t Newsmax leave things alone? I get used to hosts and shows only to find these “sudden” changes and no announcement where the person replaced has gone (I can guess). It is insulting to me as a viewer. There are other news options. I left fox and now considering dumping Newsmax.

I agree. I love Newsmax, but they do tend to do this without any explanation. We help to keep this station on the air, so I do believe they should shsre this with us. I am going crazy right now trying to find out what happened to Jen Pellagrino from the Right Squad. One day there, next day gone! No readon, no explanation and nothing online. I was hoping she wad on vacation, but it’s been too long now..

Her right blonde hair Hass to go needs to be darkened up a little bit. It takes away from her looks.
