Showerspecs, an innovative eyewear product treated with a patent-pending anti-fog coating for better visibility in a steamy shower, has been named a winner in Virginia Living magazine’s 11th Annual Made in Virginia Awards. Functional, fashionable and first in the category of anti-fog readers for the shower, Showerspecs were invented by Donna Spurrier, CEO of Richmond, VA.-based media agency Spurrier Group.
In June 2022, the unique product was prominently featured on Good Morning America’s “GMA Deals & Steals, selling over 500 units on the day the segment aired. A national ad campaign about Showerspecs is in the works with endorsement from Kevin Harrington, an original shark on the popular TV show “Shark Tank”.
“It’s such an honor be named a winner in Virginia Living’s prestigious competition along with an amazing array of products made right here in Virginia,” said Spurrier. Showerspecs work because they have a double spun anti-fog coating applied to the lenses and an extra hydrophobic layer that helps repel water droplets. They are top quality: frames hand-cut from the highest-grade cellulose acetate, stainless steel hardware, polycarbonate lenses with revolutionary anti-fog coating, and a genius hook design that lets you hang them right in the shower. They are available in 3 cool colors and various strengths.
Virginia Living magazine received more than 200 entries from across the Commonwealth. After reviewing, tasting, and testing all of them, the editors selected 30 winners from 20 cities. The winners spotlight creative, top-quality products across a range of categories including food, drink, style & beauty, and home & lifestyle.
“Since the first Made in Virginia Awards in 2012, we’ve featured in-state makers whose attention to detail and artistry remind us that craftsmanship and quality really do still matter,” said Virginia Living editor Constance Costas in the magazine’s announcement about the winners.
