Stephanie Gaines-Bryant posted on Facebook that she is retiring “after 16 plus years at WTOP and 30 years on the radio here in the Washington DC market. It’s been an amazing ride from The Doug Gilmore Morning Show on Majic 102.3 in the 90’s to The Daily Drum on WHUR-FM in the early 2000’s to Anchor/Reporter on WTOP( 2005-2006), then (2008-2024) Thanks to all who have supported me along the way. I am truly grateful and feeling blessed!”

According to her WTOP bio:

Stephanie Gaines-Bryant began her radio career in Washington, D.C., in 1984, one year after graduating from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media Arts.

She developed a thirst for news while working as an administrative assistant for National Public Radio’s evening news magazine All Things Considered. Her first on air experience came three years later when she hosted a Sunday evening jazz program on WEAA-FM in Baltimore.

Over the past 20 years, Stephanie has worked in several markets, including Baltimore, Washington, Houston and Charleston. She has held a number of positions from newscaster to morning show co-host.

Since returning to D.C. in 1995, Stephanie has worn several hats. She co-hosted The Doug Gilmore Morning Show on WMMJ-FM/Majic 102.3 for three years. She then moved on to anchor afternoon drive news and host The Daily Drum on WHUR-FM.

She is married to Richard R. Bryant. They have four children — Richard Jr., Christian, Kendall and Gabriel.

She received her Master of Liberal Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University in May of 2011.
