The third annual Elaine Shuster Foundation fundraiser, set for Dec. 12, will feature a number of current and former Washington Redskins and will be hosted by Ryan Kerrigan and Santana Moss. Expected to attend the event are some of D.C.’s biggest sports stars, past and present. The fundraiser will be MC’d by 94.7 Fresh FM morning host Tommy McFly and former Redskins Great Fred Smoot. (Appearances are subject to change.)
The event, which starts at 6 p.m. at the American Tap Room, Woodmont Avenue, Bethesda, Md, will raise money for Montgomery County high schools and feature a silent auction that includes an Alex Ovechkin-signed game stick, Nick Backstrom-signed game stick, Ryan Zimmerman-signed jersey, Max Scherzer-signed jersey, Chris Davis-signed jersey and a Mason Crosby jersey.
Eric Shuster, who the Washington Post’s sports blog labeled “possibly the most powerful man in D.C. Sports”, is Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic’s liaison between company partners and local teams and athletes. He launched the foundation to honor his late mother, Elaine, a longtime educator and D.C.-area native. The nonprofit supports a number of educational initiatives in and around Maryland.
