In recent years, with the rise of smartphones, tablets, next-gen gaming consoles and the internet of things, time spent with media has been on a sharp incline, reports Media Life.
The Media Life report, in part, continued”
“People added digital video time, mobile time and social media time to their days, until the average American was spending more than half their daily 24 hours with some type of media.
“It seemed like that pattern could go on for years, with new media options continuing to grow. But now the trend is on the cusp of stagnating.
“Time spent with media growth has slowed substantially, according to a new report from eMarketer, which says it will increase just 3 minutes between 2016 to 2018.
By comparison, from 2012 to 2013, the figure jumped by 16 minutes.
““We had early signs that overall growth would eventually slow before our latest analysis,” Monica Peart, eMarketer forecasting analyst, tells Media Life.”
