Tony Perkins has left WUSA in D.C.
Perkins joined the Tegna TV station in early 2020 and in early 2021 he replaced comedian Reese Waters on Get Up DC.
The one-time Good Morning America host had worked at WTTG for years before moving to the Tegna station.
According to a RTVLive report, “Perkins recently took a vacation and when it was time to return, he said that he had come down with COVID and continued to miss working on the morning program.
“On Thursday, the WUSA news team was told that Perkins was done and his bio was scrubbed from the station’s website.
“Perkins continues to work as a sidekick on the Donnie Simpson radio show in DC.”
Perkins has been part of the D.C. media scene for more than 30 years. According to one media report, he left WUSA to spend more time with his family.
