More changes are coming to Elon Musk’s Twitter, as the billionaire owner of the site announced plans to replace the company’s iconic blue bird logo with the letter “X,” reports NPR.
Musk said that the URL “X.com” would now automatically redirect users to Twitter.
According to NPR, the new logo may signal a new era for the platform — which Musk has long envisioned as a super app that will offer a variety of services from online banking to video messaging.
“X will be the platform that can deliver, well….everything,” Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino wrote Sunday on Twitter.
Musk, continues NPR, “hinted at changing Twitter’s name to “X” since last year when he was days away from officially owning the company. “Buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app,” he said on Twitter.”
Twitter’s changes go beyond its new logo, as the company has changed its business name to X Corp, reflecting the billionaire’s vision to create a “super app” like China’s WeChat.
