Capitol Communicator is running “Up Close and Personal” profiles of communicators in the mid-Atlantic. In this profile we feature John Pfeifer. Photography for the series is by Cade Martin, wardrobe styling by Pascale Lemaire and Sybil Street for THE Artist Agency; and hair and makeup by Patti D Nelson, Janice Kinigopoulos and Lori Pressman for THE Artist Agency.
John, please provide a short bio.
I’ve been in the ad/design business for upwards of 30 years. I’m the Associate Creative Director at Buffalo.Agency in Reston and a lucky guy who gets to work with people who consistently exceed my every expectation. They have boundless energy, creativity and talent. I’d pinch myself but I’m afraid I may wake up from a really great dream. They are truly an all-star team.
Are you involved in any other organizations?
I’m not really much of joiner which is probably kind of a bad thing. Maybe if someone starts a club for people who don’t join clubs, I’ll join that. No guarantees though.
What are the things you are most proud of?
My wife and two daughters. I’m most proud of them. I wouldn’t be anywhere or be able to do anything without them.
Who have been your personal role models?
My brother and my father-in-law. Both are people of incredible integrity and character. They are what I strive to be.
Did they offer professional advice that helped you in your career?
Take chances. Be willing to fail. Think of others first.
What professional advice do you have for others?
Know the rules. And how to break them.
What’s on your Spotify and Pandora playlists?
A collection of Blues from Chess Records, and a lot of old Motown stuff and The Beatles. I gotta have The Beatles.
What’s your favorite restaurant?
I’m always on the hunt for a truly great burger. Right now I like Melt in Leesburg. Mmmmm.
