Laura, please provide us a short bio and your current title.
I’m a proud Marylander who runs Van Eperen, an integrated communications firm with offices in Baltimore and N. Bethesda, and enjoy tackling issues that move Maryland, our region, and nation forward. I founded the award-winning, MBE-certified firm in 2004 and we support government and corporate clients with strategic communication programs (public relations, social media, marketing and advertising).

Who were your role models?
My parents placed me and my siblings at the forefront of their lives. Dad worked seven days/week and lived a faith-based life on behalf of his family. Mom was his true partner who went back to work to ensure we had the best upbringing possible.
Did your parents offer professional advice that helped you in your career?
My Midwestern parents were from a generation by which their actions spoke louder than their words. They set the example for me by having the strongest work ethic and keeping family and faith central to our lives.
What professional advice do you have for others?
Exceptional customer service goes a long way. Make it all about our clients.
What advice do you have on what’s appropriate attire for your organization?
Own your style, while being mindful of the office culture.
What insights do you have about the future of our industry?
We all need to do our part to educate end-users about the value and benefit of quality communications.
Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?
I lead an amazing team of pros who embrace this philosophy: “It has been, and ever shall be, about our clients.” We hire high achievers who are dedicated to putting their talents into client outcomes and exceptional service.
