The Washington Post named Annah Aschbrenner senior deputy campaign editor on the National Politics desk. According to The Post, she brings “her broad experience and her enthusiasm to working with the talented 2024 campaign team in dominating coverage of this deeply consequential election.”
The Post adds that she “is a natural to take on this assignment, having overseen presidential campaign coverage in 2020 at USA Today and in 2016 at the Des Moines Register. She most recently served as The Post’s Congress editor, where her team’s hallmarks have been definitive, scoop-driven coverage on major news such as Kevin McCarthy’s removal as speaker. Under her leadership, the Congress team has excelled at telling the story of Capitol Hill for readers outside the Beltway in authoritative and accessible ways.”
Aschbrenner joined The Post in 2022 from USA Today, where she most recently shepherded coverage of the White House, Congress and national politics.
