World’s largest advertising company adds CEO with background in tech and AI

The world’s largest advertising company, WPP, has found a new CEO in Microsoft exec Cindy Rose, reports Adweek.
Rose will take over from outgoing CEO Mark Read, effective Sept. 1, 2025.
Read, who previously stated he would leave in December, will work with his successor to support the transition until the end of the year.
According to Adweek, “Rose has a background in tech and AI leadership, most recently at Microsoft, where she has been chief operating officer for global enterprise since 2023.
“Before that, she was president of Microsoft Western Europe and CEO of Microsoft UK.
“Her earlier roles include managing director of the U.K. consumer business at Vodafone and executive director of digital entertainment and media Sales at Virgin Media. She also spent 15 years at The Walt Disney Company, ultimately as senior vp, and managing director of Disney Interactive Media Group, EMEA.”
