“It’s the end of an era,” reports WTOP radio in Washington, D.C., as, early in 2019, its Glass-Enclosed Nerve Center will move to 5425 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, in D.C.. Federal News Network (WFED) is also making the move.  Both stations’ light-up call letters have been emblazoned across WTOP’s Idaho Avenue Northwest building since 2006. WTOP has been in its current building for nearly 30 years.

As we reported earlier in 2018, with almost $68 million, WTOP-FM, was the highest revenue-generating radio station in the United States in 2017. The station has been at the top or close to the top of the radio station revenue-generating list for years.  In the list of top-ten revenue-generating stations in 2017, released by BIA Advisory Services, the other nine are located in NYC, LA and Chicago.
