dcrtv.com reports that all-newser WTOP was the top ad revenue-generating radio station in the nation in 2016, with $67.5 million billed, “beating stations in the much larger markets of NYC, LA, and Chicago. That’s according stats from Chantilly-based BIA/Kelsey, which also reported that over-the-air radio advertising revenue stayed relatively flat at around $14.1 billion. WTOP’s 2015 billing revenue was $65 million, up from $63.5 million in 2014. It’s been the top revenue generating radio station in the nation for 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and now 2016. Overall, the news-talk radio category experienced an overall improvement in 2016, likely due to the presidential year.”
