WUSA morning anchor Annie Yu will be off the air for awhile due to a health issue.
Yu told viewers the news on the Washington, D.C., CBS affiliate and also wrote about it on her social media channels.
“I’ll be taking some time away after surgery and on medical leave from work to rest and heal. I look forward to coming back as soon as I can,” she wrote on Facebook. “I have to admit I’m feeling sad… because I didn’t ask for this. But I’m ready to handle it, and I know I will come out of this stronger than ever,” she stated.
(One online source states she is 30 years old and was born on October 26, 1992, in Seoul, South Korea, but grew up in the D.C region.)
TV Spy asked Yu about her announcement, but has not heard back.

I pray that you are healed from the bottom of your feet to the top of your head. Now I, along with the get up DC team & all the other viewers, I wish you well & quick recovery. When you’re well, get up Annie Yu
