by | Nov 13, 2022

Washington Women in Public Relations (WWPR) awarded the inaugural Kate Perrin Service Award to Kate Perrin. The new award, named in honor of its first recipient, recognizes those who demonstrate significant commitment to WWPR through their time, actions, talents and years of service to the organization.

According to a release, Perrin is a founding member of WWPR “dedicating 35 years of service to the organization, and was the first chair of the annual flagship event, WWPR’s Woman of the Year. In her more than 26 years running her firm PRofessional Solutions, Kate was a trailblazer and connector in Washington’s PR community, and an entrepreneur who started a unique firm that coached and placed PR professionals in agencies and organizations all around the region. Kate has more than four decades of experience, and has been a willing volunteer her entire career, including holding all roles on the board of WWPR.

“She has coached countless young women on how to polish their resumes, “put on their bold,” and live authentically and successfully in the PR world. Perrin truly understands the value of human connection, which is often a lost art in these days. The impact she has had on those she knows lasts a lifetime, and she has touched many people’s lives over the years and left a lasting impact on their careers and the public relations profession.”

Pre-COVID, adds WWPR, “Kate was at just about every networking event in the D.C.-area and works the room with her impeccable style and warm charm.  She has been on countless panels, boards and offered to help people improve their resumes and interview skills, volunteering her own time.  She was without question the go-to person in this market when working to match the right candidate with the right position. Further, she is known for high level of integrity, honesty and follow-through.”

Now that she is “retired,” she is now a full-time volunteer with the Smithsonian Women’s Committee and the Girl Scouts of the National Capital Area, and is heavily involved with the International Women’s Forum and her alma mater, American University.

Moving forward, WWPR will honor members with The Kate Perrin Service Award when they rise to the level of tremendous commitment and service to the organization. The award to Perrin was presented November 4, 2022.
