Baltimore-based Planit added Karen Krupka Smith as account director. Smith will lead a team and oversee the strategic growth and execution of a variety of clients such as Marriott International, The Ritz-Carlton, Under Armour, Universal Music Group, McCormick and the Maryland Automobile Insurance Fund. Previously, Smith was manager of promotions and partnerships for Rockville-based Choice Hotels International. Also at Planit, Mary Anderson joined as digital media specialist, along with Ken Peluso, user experience architect, and Rose Riashy, digital producer.

WebbMason in Hunt Valley hired Jon Guidera as creative director. A veteran of the Baltimore advertising community, Guidera joins from 83 North Advertising where he was creative director. Prior to 83 North, he was senior art director at Carton Donofrio Partners for five years.

Mount Washington based Warschawski promoted Eliza Findlay to senior associate where she will be responsible for creating and executing integrated strategic marketing communications campaigns and managing day-to-day account activities for clients. Findlay joined Warschawski as an associate in 2013 after serving as a marketing and communications specialist at FleishmanHillard in Washington.

Gina Zuk of Abel Communications in Hampden accepted the nomination from board members and peers to fulfill the position of president for the Baltimore Public Relations Council (BPRC). As president, Zuk will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day tasks as well as helping plan and organize programs and events sponsored by BPRC. The BPRC is the oldest public relations organization in Baltimore, creating a platform for PR professionals to exchange ideas, enhance their knowledge, and improve effectiveness through communication with peers and members.

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce (AAACCC) announced that Cathy Shaw joined as director, marketing and communications. She is responsible for the AAACCC’s overall communications, marketing, and membership development efforts with a focus on advancing the organization’s strategic objectives and serving member needs. Shaw comes to AAACCC from Sidus Data where she served as marketing director.
