Carousel30 Recognized in 2016 Washington Business Journal Corporate Philanthropy Awards

by | Nov 17, 2016

Carousel30, a strategic digital agency based in the Washington, D.C., metro region, was recognized as one of this year’s honorees at the Corporate Philanthropy Awards by the Washington Business Journal. The annual Corporate Philanthropy Awards celebrates local companies in the Greater Washington region who exhibit exceptional corporate philanthropy in the two separate categories of financial giving and volunteer hours. Carousel30, a Capitol Communicator sponsor, has been recognized for outstanding philanthropic work in the volunteer hours category.

Since its founding in 2003, Carousel30 has worked with numerous pro bono clients and has more recently become a partner of the Trust for the George Washington Memorial Parkway. Carousel30 has worked with the Trust since the nonprofit was started in 2015 on all aspects of their strategy including creating a brand, launching a website and assisting with various marketing tactics. Carousel30 even helped the Trust plan fundraising events and secure a Google grant which provided the nonprofit with $10,000 worth of free advertising—a gift that was crucial in gaining exposure as a new organization.

“Recognition for Carousel30’s philanthropic work is greatly appreciated by both myself and the entire Carousel30 team,” Greg Kihlström, founder and CEO of Carousel30, said. “We look forward to participating in additional volunteer activities in the near future.”

In addition to the pro bono work provided by Carousel30, Kihlström has volunteered for the Trust for the George Washington Memorial Parkway by serving on the group’s Board of Trustees. Through his position on the board, Kihlström assisted with internal tasks such as reaching out to other partners and board members in an effort to further develop the Trust for the George Washington Memorial Parkway as a new nonprofit.

“The benefits of serving our community provide returns that are well worth the investment of time and effort,”, Kihlström said, “Working with the Trust for the George Washington Memorial Parkway has given our team at Carousel30 the opportunity to gain new skills, strengthen teamwork and see the benefits pro bono partners can get from our work firsthand, which has been extremely rewarding.”

Volunteer work and other similar initiatives at Carousel30 are guided by the agency’s five values that include using technology to help the public, working together to give back to the community and encouraging a collaborative environment from every team member, among others. These values are practiced at Carousel30 every day which makes giving back to the community—and therefore working together—a recurring goal within the team. By participating in regular volunteer activities, the Carousel30 team has continually grown in terms of their ability to work together efficiently which has translated into the high quality work produced every day.
