Cision, a provider of PR, social software and insight services, acquired Gorkana Group Limited, a U.K.-based media intelligence and data insights service provider, through its parent, Discovery Group Holdings Limited. This announcement comes on the heels of Cision’s recent combination with Vocus, a Capitol Communicator sponsor, and its acquisition of Visible Technologies.

“The future of PR is here,” said Cision Chief Executive Officer Peter Granat. “Our acquisition of Gorkana is the next step toward achieving Cision’s mission to be a global leader in PR and social software with the most advanced and comprehensive suite of solutions and services in the market.”

Gorkana strengthens Cision’s offering to PR professionals while also better serving the international journalist community. Throughout the entire communication spectrum – from influencer discovery to engagement and campaign analysis – Cision offers solutions that serve the needs of communication professionals and members of the media.

Gorkana Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Thompson will join the Cision executive management team as EMEA managing director.
“Cision shares our commitment to providing the best possible service to PR professionals, journalists and members of the media,” explained Thompson. “Joining forces allows us to better serve our existing customers while also enhancing our ability to rapidly expand into new international markets.”

The Gorkana brand will remain, and all customers will continue to have access to the My Gorkana portal and services. With this combination, customers will begin to see additional enhancements and functionality to the offerings, as the companies combine the best of all features across Cision’s portfolio of products, including CisionPoint, My Gorkana, Vocus PR Suite and Visible Intelligence.

“When Cision and Vocus combined, we emphasized that customers would benefit from our commitment to invest in innovations,” explained Granat. “The acquisition of Gorkana is a prime example of this steadfast commitment, and our desire to provide innovative products and services to communication, social and content marketing professionals.”
