The Washington Commanders announced a stadium naming-rights deal with Northwest Federal Credit Union. The facility in Landover, Md, will be called Northwest Stadium. The eight-year agreement runs through 2031 and is effective for the 2024 season.
According to Reuters, financial terms were not disclosed but Sportico reported that Northwest Federal is paying more than $8 million per year for the arrangement.
Sportico also stated that the deal with Northwest Federal Credit Union does not include any options on a new stadium, if the Commanders relocate to a potential new home in Maryland, Virginia or Washington, D.C. Commanders owner Josh Harris said 2030 was a target date to open a new building.
The 65,000-seat stadium, which opened in 1997, was known as FedEx Field from 1999 until February 2024, when it was temporarily rebranded as Commanders Field.
It is the first naming-rights partnership in NFL history with a credit union, according to the Commanders.
