GYMR Public Relations, in D.C. announced that Mike Warner has been promoted to senior vice president;  Amy Martin Vogt has been promoted to vice president; Lauren Musiol has been promoted to managing supervisor; Haydn Bush has been promoted to managing supervisor; Frank Walsh has been promoted to account supervisor; and, Stephanie Wight has been promoted to account executive.

DPR Group, Inc., based in Frederick, Md, added Laura Asendio as account executive. In this position, Asendio will manage and implement PR and marketing strategies to help current and new clients enhance their brands and generate new business. According to DPR Group, “in response to a recent surge in new client signings”, the agency is planning one more hire within the next few weeks.

The District of Columbia Office of Motion Picture and Television Development named Andy Fernandez as the September Filmmaker of the Month. According to a release, the son of Bolivian immigrants, he has a deep appreciation for the immigrant experience and after attending an immigration rally in 2013, he decided to develop a project on the youth involved in the immigration reform movement.  His first short film Risers follows four young undocumented immigrants, of which, two are students at the University of the District of Columbia. His 30-minute film is scheduled to premiere at the Landmark E Street Cinema during the Media Rise Festival on Oct. 1. He is currently also working on two music videos and a short film featuring LGBT youth in the District.
