Stratacomm LLC added Karyn G. Le Blanc as a senior vice president in its D.C. office.  At Stratacomm, she will lead the firm’s Infrastructure Practice Group, which helps clients communicate with the public and other stakeholders on all aspects of transportation and development-related projects. Previously, she was the communications director for the District Department of Transportation (DDOT). There, stated a release, she positioned DDOT as a national leader among state departments of transportation in both public outreach and government social media strategies. During her eight years with the agency, she also held public affairs specialist and communications specialist positions. Most recently, she was the communications director at the Downtown Business Improvement District (DBID) where she developed strategies to support its mission, goals, and full spectrum of initiatives. Under her leadership, continued the release, the DBID retooled and rebranded (“DowntownDC”) its marketing strategies to target and reach new audiences.

Environics Communications, Inc., announced that Mimi Carter has joined the firm’s D.C. office as a vice president. Most recently, Carter was vice president of communications and marketing at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and Corcoran College of Art + Design.  Prior to the Corcoran, she served as interim director of communications at the Epilepsy Foundation of America and was assistant marketing director and publicist at Virilion, an interactive marketing and communications agency acquired by RepEquity. Carter also ran her own communications firm, SparkLight, and she is the founder and leader of “DC Communicators,” a Washington regional group of communications professionals.

The District of Columbia Office of Motion Picture and Television Development named award-winning writer, producer and director Sonya Dunn, as its June Filmmaker of the Month. Dunn operates and manages a full-service, D.C.-based production company, JEMH Entertainment, that has several projects in development: feature length films, novels, graphic novels, websites, plays, musicals, and scripted and unscripted programming.  Dunn also has received a number of honors and awards as a writer and producer. Her feature screenplay for Byker Chyck was honored as a finalist for Best Feature Screenplay at the LA Femme International Film Festival (2014) and was featured in the Women in Film and Video (WIFV) Spotlight on Screenwriting Catalog (2014).
