HZDG, an independent integrated creative agency with offices in Rockville, NYC and Baltimore, will expand its D.C. Metro presence through its acquisition of D.C.’s Canvas Co/work. HZDG has engaged in a deal with the founders of Canvas to acquire its full set of assets, including its 6,000-sq.-ft. DuPont Circle creative community work and event space.
According to a release, Canvas, one of D.C.’s first co-working venues has, in recent years, become an epicenter of creative activity, welcoming speakers from companies like Twitter and GitHub, hosting organizations from AIGA to The Art Directors Club and housing startups from MACAW to some of the area’s top creative agencies, such as Friendly Design Co., NAV, Tomboy and Duke & The Duck.
“Not only is it great for our existing team to have a place downtown, but we also know we’ll attract new creative talent with this opportunity,” said Karen Zuckerman, HZDG’s president and chief creative officer.
Canvas Co/work was developed in 2011 as a place for D.C.’s creative community to call home. According to a release, “It now welcomes HZDG to that home and hands over the reins as it grows, and with it, the creative community it now supports.”
