Laura Van Eperen, founder and CEO of Van Eperen, a top public relations and marketing communications firm with offices in Baltimore and Rockville, Md, has been voted onto the Executive Committee as Vice-Chairwoman of the Maryland Marketing Partnership (MMP), after serving on the Board of Directors for two years.
“After working with Laura since the inception of the Marketing Partnership, we are thrilled to have her provide additional leadership in this advisory role as Vice Chair,” said Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary and MMP Chairman Mike Gill. “Laura adds to our Board a wealth of strategic communication expertise and business sense based on her first-hand knowledge as a business owner in our state.”
The Maryland Marketing Partnership was founded during the Governor Larry Hogan Administration in 2015 as a public-private organization to lead the state’s economic development branding strategy and promote Maryland as the best place to locate and grow your business in the Mid-Atlantic and U.S. It was founded in statute to leverage partnerships to create a globally-recognized campaign for Maryland that leads to job growth and capital investment in the State.
“Through the Maryland Marketing Partnership, we have launched the Open for Business advertising campaign, aimed at growing Maryland’s economy and adding jobs in key industries like life sciences, cybersecurity, and financial services,” added Allison Mayer, Executive Director, MMP.
Van Eperen joined the MMP as an appointee of Governor Larry Hogan. According to a release, the P3 “allows Van Eperen to combine her passions for entrepreneurialism and communications to offer strategic marketing value to the state she loves, of which has allowed her business to flourish for 14 years.”
“It is a great honor to now serve as Vice Chair of the MMP to promote a healthy business climate in Maryland. I’m fully vested alongside Secretary Gill, Executive Director Mayer and of course, Governor Hogan, to showcase the array of opportunities for all businesses to thrive here,” commented Van Eperen. “Maryland is the best location for any business owner, including female business owners, like myself.”
The Maryland Marketing Partnership launched an integrated campaign in 2017 to build upon the Open for Business brand to increase awareness of Maryland as a business location and promote the business-friendly climate. The campaign utilized digital, print, radio, outdoor advertising, marketing and PR to target in-state and out-of-state business owners and influencers.
Van Eperen will serve as Vice-Chair for a one-year appointment and serves alongside fellow Board members representing Maryland in the areas of business, economic development, labor, non-profits, marketing, advertising, public relations, and communications.
Van Eperen, a Capitol Communicator sponsor, was founded in Maryland in 2004 and has since grown into one of the top PR firms in Maryland, metro Washington, D.C., and the Mid-Atlantic U.S., serving international, national and regional clients. It is a Woman-Owned Small Business and is a designated Minority Business Enterprise/Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (MBE/DBE) with offices in Rockville and Baltimore.
