Leading with credibility in a fractured media world, a Feb. 24 Zoom conversation with Congressman Jim Clyburn
A Fireside Conversation with Congressman Jim Clyburn
and Podcast Host Michael Zeldin
As public trust declines and leaders navigate constant scrutiny and media noise, credible leadership rooted in clarity and values matters more than ever. In a fireside conversation on Zoom, February 24, 10:30 – 11:30 AM, Congressman Jim Clyburn and podcast host Michael Zeldin will discuss how the expectations and pressures of leadership have evolved across decades, and why earning trust today is fundamentally more difficult than in the past.
Guided by Congressman Clyburn’s recently released book, The First Eight, the conversation will cover how progress can pause when trust erodes, how leadership must evolve to meet new realities, and what Congressman Clyburn’s decades of service, including his 17th term, reveal about sustaining credibility over time.
The focus of this Zoom session is on leadership lessons and credibility challenges facing today’s communicators, not partisan politics.
The First Eight: A Personal History of the Pioneering Black Congressmen Who Shaped a Nation is a 2025 book by Representative Clyburn that chronicles the first eight Black South Carolinians elected to Congress during the Reconstruction Era. It blends history with memoir to honor these trailblazers and highlight their connection to modern political challenges. Attendees will leave the discussion with practical takeaways for building and maintaining trust.
