Rock Creek Strategic Marketing and CHIEF have integrated operations and now operate as a single agency under the CHIEF brand name. This move, said a release, is the agency’s next evolution, allowing it to advance its vision, while leveraging deep relationships built over 25 years.
Co-founders Margaret and Scott Johnson founded Rock Creek in 1987. In 2011, they, along with Chris Lester, established CHIEF as a distinct entity under the Rock Creek umbrella to deliver brand strategy to commercial and non-profit clients. Since then, the two practices have collaborated on projects and, continued the release, are now seizing this opportunity to bring deeper capabilities to existing clients and build new relationships.
“This is the next step in performing on an even bigger stage,” says President Margaret Johnson. “Our existing clients and relationships have already put us in the global sphere and we’re ready to work in an even larger capacity, solving bigger and more complex challenges.”
“We are at 92 employees as of today and will likely be closer to 100 in the very near future. And we have moved out of our Chevy Chase office and CHIEF’s previous office at 1900 M Street, NW. Together, we have expanded into our new space at 1800 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, where we have a full floor, including outdoor space for our team and heavy event/meetup presence,” Anuj Vedak, agency principal, told Capitol Communicator.
Collectively the agency serves a client roster that includes Hilton, Yale, Department of Justice, FEMA, Newman’s Own Foundation and YWCA.
CHIEF’s new headquarters are located in Dupont Circle. The space, stated the agency, will serve as a hub of creative exploration and innovation for our work with clients and will also serve the broader D.C. technology, design and marketing community as a home for thought-leadership summits and events.
