by | Oct 3, 2017

The Martin Agency in Richmond released its latest “It’s Not Surprising” TV spot for Geico. Called “Triangle,” the spot premiered during the Primetime Emmy Awards. According to Richmond BizSense, the agency also launched a new campaign for the Warner Bros. video game “Middle-earth: Shadow of War.” The campaign includes a website with an interactive live-action battle film, as well as two TV spots: “Eat It Jerry” and “Not Today Brian.” The agency also announced the promotion of Michael Chapman to executive vice president, chief strategy officer. He succeeds Earl Cox, who retired after 31 years as CSO. Chapman was previously managing director of strategic planning. He has also served as senior vice president and group planning director and worked at Martin’s sister agency, McCann London. A VCU Brandcenter and UVA Darden School of Business grad, Chapman started at Martin in 2000 as a strategic planner.

Cvent Inc., in Tysons, Va, announced the hiring of a new chief marketing officer, as well as two vice presidents in the company’s marketing department. Patrick Smith joins Cvent as Chief Marketing Officer. Most recently, Smith served as CMO at Deltek, a $500+ million enterprise software company that was recently acquired for $2.8 billion. Brad Gillespie is Cvent’s new Vice President of Marketing. Gillespie was most recently the CMO at Octiv, and, prior to that, was the Global VP of Marketing for SiriusDecisions.  Chris McAndrews has been hired as Cvent’s Vice President of Hospitality Marketing. Most recently, McAndrews was SVP of Marketing at global corporate travel agency consortium Radius Travel. Prior to Radius, McAndrews was an SVP at Travelocity and was also the president of digital media at National Geographic.

David Weiss joined D S Simon Media as VP, Client Services.  The position was created after promotions to two senior members of the D S Simon Media client service team: Eric Wright was named Executive Vice President and Sarah Katz was promoted to Senior Vice President. In addition, Elizabeth Rosenberger now is Account Manager. “David brings a unique understanding of how to effectively use video to achieve brand goals combined with outstanding customer service. Our clients will love working with him,” said company CEO Doug Simon. “D S Simon Media has a unique approach to influencer marketing that builds brand authenticity instead of challenging it,” said Weiss, “it’s great to be backed by such a strong team that understands cross-platform communications.”
