Republican Ed Gillespie is resuming his career as a D.C.-based public relations consultant nearly seven months after his loss in Virginia’s 2017 gubernatorial race.

Communications firm Sard Verbinnnen and Co. announced that it had hired Gillespie to help lead its new Washington-based public affairs shop, reported the Martinsville Bulletin.

“Ed’s unparalleled experience in business, politics and government will be an important asset to SVC’s clients,” SVC executives George Sard and Paul Verbinnen said in a news release. “In addition to his expertise in public affairs, he has advised clients on M&A and crisis situations and counseled CEOs and Boards through significant transitions and corporate challenges.”

Gillespie, a former Republican National Committee chairman, swore off electoral politics after his 9-point loss last year to Democratic Ralph Northam. That defeat followed a narrower loss for Gillespie in the 2014 U.S. Senate race against Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va, according to the Martinsville Bulletin. More here.
