“Wonder Woman 2,” the sequel to the smash 2017 hit starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot, will film at the shuttered Landmark Mall in Alexandria, Va, in June and July, sources tell the Washington Business Journal, which added that filming will also take place in D.C. during roughly the same period. According to WBJ, “Virginia and the District are expected to provide DC Entertainment and Warner Brothers, the production companies behind “Wonder Woman 2,” with incentives, though no additional details of the incentive packages were immediately available.
“Andy Edmunds, director of the Virginia Film Office, declined to comment on any specific production, citing client confidentiality and safety concerns. But he spoke generally about the film and television industry in the commonwealth, which includes credits like “Homeland,” “Mercy Street,” “Arlington Road,” “Argo” and “Lincoln.”
“”When a movie comes into a region, they’re like super tourists with a payroll,” Edmunds said. “And it’s always good for a local economy.””
