Claire Sheahan joins Avalere Health in D.C. as Senior VP and head of Avalere Communications. Sheahan will lead Avalere Communications, a rapidly growing group within Avalere. For six years, Sheahan grew and then led the FleishmanHillard healthcare practice in D.C., serving clients in the pharmaceutical, payor, device, non-profit, and government sectors. She will join the company in January 2015.

Columbia’s Maroon PR added Northern Safety & Industrial, based in Frankfort, N.Y., a national distributor of personal protective equipment, safety and industrial supplies. Maroon will handle media relations, social media, video production and media buying.

Baltimore’s Planit added two new clients: Smartlink, a staffing and services company working with Fortune 100 communications companies; and Omnilert, creator of a mobile-based campus emergency notification system.
