Hager Sharp named Jennifer Wayman, MHS, one of the nation’s most preeminent social marketing experts, to lead the integrated marketing communications agency as its new president and CEO.
“In Jennifer we have found the leader who has the impressive and successful background in marketing social change, strong leadership skills, and an innovative, entrepreneurial spirit to lead our dynamic, fast-growing company,” said Hager Sharp’s Board Chair Barbara Davis Blum. “While our search yielded great candidates, Jennifer quickly rose to the top, and we are fortunate to have her lead Hager Sharp.”
“I have long admired Hager Sharp as a mission-driven company whose ideas make a difference,” said Wayman. “I am excited about the opportunity to lead this group of smart, creative people as we focus our efforts on three areas that matter greatly to me and to this country: health and wellness, education/workforce and community transformation.”
Wayman, stated Hager Sharp, “is widely recognized as an effective business leader with expertise in developing and implementing strategic and creative national campaigns for federal government agencies, Fortune 100 companies, and leading nonprofits. While at Ogilvy PR, Wayman built one of the nation’s leading social marketing teams, diversified the agency’s business, and led national initiatives in cardiovascular health, cancer prevention and early detection, women’s health, children’s health, injury prevention, violence prevention, and more.”
Wayman currently serves on the editorial board of Social Marketing Quarterly, is a founding and current board member of the International Social Marketing Association, and serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council of Lehigh University’s College of Business and Economics. During her 24-year career she has received more than 75 industry awards, including PRSA’s Silver Anvil for Public Service Campaign of the Year, a Platinum Sabre for Best Campaign of the Year, and Best in Show, the National Institutes of Health’s Director’s Award, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Secretary’s Award.
Wayman joins the firm effective Sept. 8. Hager Sharp is a full-service communications agency that has dedicated more than 40 years to providing communications support for organizations committed to improving health, advancing education, transforming communities and making meaningful change in the world.
