Facebook really wants people to keep wishing each other a happy birthday on the social network, reports CNN, so it’s launching Birthday Stories that will let people post images, videos or digital cards to friends’ Facebook Stories — the vertical posts that sit on top of the News Feed – and have them disappear after 24-hours. The festive content will then be shown to all the celebrant’s friends via their Stories feed, though they can opt out.
Perhaps the Birthday Stories are “the ultimate bit of targeted advertising” states CNN, as many people hid their birthday on Facebook but, with Birthday Stories, it may be a source of more data for advertisers to reach their target audiences
