David Chalian, CNN‘s longtime political director, has been promoted to senior VP and Washington, D.C., bureau chief, reports Deadline.
The appointment follows the departure of Sam Feist last summer. He has joined C-SPAN as CEO.
According to Deadline, “Chalian will remain as political director, which includes a frequent on-air presence, and oversee the D.C. bureau as well as Washington political news coverage. That includes live events such as political debates and town halls. Chalian led editorial direction for the Donald Trump-Joe Biden debate in June.”
Chalian joined CNN in 2013 and was named political director the next year. He previously served as vice president for video programming at Politico, and was Washington bureau chief for Yahoo News. He also was political editor and on-air analyst for PBS NewsHour, and political director for ABC News.
