D.C. Newsmakers: Jarrod Agen, Kirsten Seckler and Julie Chase

by | Jun 18, 2019

Bethesda-based Lockheed Martin Corp. reportedly hired  Vice President Mike Pence’s communications director Jarrod Agen, shown above, reports Washington Business Journal, which added that CNN and The Washington Post reported he will leave the White House “at the end of the month. Both media outlets cited sources that Agen would land at Lockheed, specifically as a vice president for communications.” WBJ stated that “The Post reports that Agen briefly served as Pence’s acting chief of staff after the exit of Nick Ayers, and while he hoped to land the position full-time, the vice president in February turned to Marc Short. At that point, the Post reports, citing Agen’s associates, Agen “began considering other opportunities.””

Kirsten Seckler has been appointed Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of Shatterproof, a new national nonprofit organization based in NYC that’s dedicated to reversing the course addiction crisis facing America.   For more than 20 years, she was with Special Olympics, most recently as the global Chief Brand and Communications Officer.  Seckler, who will be based in D.C., will open the first D.C. office for Shatterproof.  Seckler is also an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University for the School of Continuing Studies teaching in the Integrated Marketing and Sports Industry Management Programs. She was an honoree of the Washington Women in Public Relations Woman of the Year Award.

Bethesda-based Streetsense, described as “an experience-focused strategy and design collective,” announced Julie Chase has joined the firm as Managing Director, Public Relations.  Prior to joining Streetsense, she founded both Chase Communications and ChasePR. She is an active member of the Urban Land Institute among other professional organizations; as well as currently serving on the charitable boards of the V Foundation for Cancer Research, CulturalDC, and The Choral Arts Society of Washington.
