The American Advertising Federation DC Chapter (AAF DC) announced its officers and directors for 2023-2024, featuring people from prominent area agencies, in-house teams, media representatives, freelancers and more.

AAF DC has elected Gretchen Carswell as President. Lindsay Matthews of Sensis will move from Treasurer to Vice President. New Executive Committee members include Kyle Knauff of Undertone and Jacqui Balogh of Yes& elected as Treasurer and Secretary, respectively. Jodie Spalding of Yes& will remain on as Immediate Past President. All officers serve a one-year term.

Carswell will lead AAF DC in its mission to support the overall advertising community in the Washington, DC, area. She will work closely with the board and respective committees to develop and promote AAF DC’s events (ADWKDC, American Advertising Awards) and programs, drive AAF DC’s membership growth and serve as the voice of the advertising industry in DC. She has served on the AAF DC’s Board of Directors since 2017 and has been part of the club since 1998. With over 20 years’ experience, she has worked with leading agencies in the D.C. area and is currently a freelance creative director.

She said of this board, “This group brings a new level of passion and dedication to the club. We’ll be out there reminding people not only is AAF DC still here but that we’re the go-to place for everyone working in this industry. I’m really excited to see new engagement with our members and partners.”

Taking over in Committee Chair roles are Jacqui Balogh and Katie Dirks for Membership, Sarah Marshall for Communications and Whitney Loring for events. Gretchen Carswell will co-chair the American Advertising Awards with Zach Goodwin and Maggie Winters from January Third as well as co-chair ADWKDC with Jodie Warren and Judy Markoe. Markoe will continue as president of the AAF DC Foundation.

American Advertising Federation DC is an organization that brings together the broadest range of communications professionals who work and live in the Greater Washington DC community: advertising agency employees, print vendors, interactive experts, media reps, PR professionals, in-house marketing teams, photographers, production houses, students and more. Through various committees, the board keeps the club running at peak efficiency as well as strategizing and implementing its events and programs throughout the year.
