Havit in Arlington, VA, acquired Machinery, which is based in Philadelphia. The combined companies will be known as Havit Advertising. Scott Mikolajczyk,  above, CEO of Havit, said he is  “pumped” to have the “Machinery team juice up the potential for our entire portfolio. I can’t wait to see what our combined companies will unleash into the marketplace on behalf of our clients.”

Van Eperen added Jessica Alvarez as an account executive. According to a release, she is bilingual in English and Spanish, and is “well-versed in orchestrating sound integrated marketing strategies and developing and nurturing numerous brands among diverse and multicultural audiences.”

Also at Van Eperen, the agency announced it won a Platinum Hermes Creative Award in the Print Media, Design, Publication Category for client AGU. The award recognizes the Rockville-based agency’s work on the development of the strategic editorial guidance and creative direction and development of the AGU Surging Waters: Science Empowering Communities in the Face of Flooding report.

“The Van Eperen team supported us with the development of Surging Waters, a critical science policy report, showcasing the consequences of increased storms and the resulting flooding in the U.S. due to climate change,” commented Lexi Shultz, AGU vice president of public affairs. “The team championed this report through the design process and assisted with engagement among the media and Congressional stakeholders. They were a true partner to our team.”
