The Washington Post had an
Oscars preview story focusing on the best pictures, with photographs by award-winning photographer
Cade Martin, who also photographs Capitol Communicator’s profile series.
Cade Martin told Capitol Communicator, “The concept behind this project was to show the most significant and iconic items of each film. We wanted to have really distinct markers that people would instantly identify with each film.
“My art director and I compiled as many items as we could, including the knife from The Revenant, which was forged special for our photo shoot by the knife maker who created three of the knives for the movie.
“We wanted the color gold to be the unifying thread – to really speak to this being about the Oscars – and so we initially considered a bunch of gold fabric. But once we arrived on set, we didn’t need any additional props because the warmth they created in the images was perfect.”
